Getting familiar with the technical team at Kanengo BESS.
On the 14th of May 2026, we visited the Kanengo BESS site where we met the team from ESCOM, JIVO and other engineers responsible for different tasks such as operations, protection, and SCADA personnel among others.
The visit was really about getting familiarity with the technical team on the ground before commissioning. We learnt a couple of things that are necessary and will go a long way in helping the SABESS Centre of Excellence with its knowledge dissemination work. Having direct access to the people doing the work, learning how the system is protected, and how it is monitored was exactly the kind of insights we need to build something meaningful.
With the Kanengo BESS, SABESS CoE is expected to delivered practical research, trainings and publications based on real life data accessible to the general public.
A big thank you to the ESCOM, JIVO, Honours engineers, EPC Engineers and all the engineering teams for their time. We look forward to working closely together as we build the SABESS CoE.
